UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. In this case, it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's location, lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle or lever is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in many styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same spindle and screws to fix them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, this will ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles on doors. These handle types can either work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for the purpose it was designed for.
All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically a benefit when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that move out of horizontal position when not in use.
When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
After you have identified the correct size of PZ it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. These are typically rectangular or round in design with an internal lever and external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from getting into a house. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated that allows you to put them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body and allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with internal and external doors generally having different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is contingent on the way your doors and handles are used. For example, external doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it is not too long.
upvc replacement door handles repairmywindowsanddoors have been made with bump and anti-drill features included in their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can help to deflect an attack and protect your door.
There are also cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and less difficult than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a break-in, which can hinder the insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is located within the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple component is the best solution to address this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position since they aren't easy to close manually.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.
These spring cassettes offer an excellent value solution for the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to put in and will extend the life span of your uPVC doors.
